dreaming of a white christmas // {kellie pickler} style

dsc_7601

last weekend my gal pals & i got together for a festive & wine-filled holiday party!  there was brie, spinach & artichoke dip, apple pie and meatballs!  all the best things right?  but what made the night even better was sharing stories about family traditions and our favorite holiday memories.  some of us have known each other for a few months and others for a few years, but we all got a little closer after a glass of pinot noir and a story about christmas gifts gone wrong!  moments like these are what make the holidays so special, and you’ll catch a few of them below.

{bomb}er + boot season

sup pup.  it’s officially bomber + boot season and i am so so ready.  right now it’s all about military-inspired jackets and the perfect show-stopping boots.  the best thing about this season’s trends is that they all mix and match!  the olive greens, the rich blacks, the cozy burgundy’s.  feeling in my element with cozy finds that step up any outfit.

the perfect {picnic} // blogger besties

one saturday morning, four blogger besties met in strawberry fields.  the perfect picnic people met us at central park to deliver the cutest blue and white tote bag complete with a ribbon & including a picnic blanket.  we found a nice shaded spot in strawberry fields – ready to brunch, relax, and enjoy each others company.  now, hindsight is 20/20, so given the chance to do it again, we probably would not have chosen the hottest day of the year at that point [a cool 96°] for our outdoor meal.  however, the perfect picnic made our experience so so so enjoyable.  they provided all the necessities & then some!  the food ranged from assorted baguettinis, north fork potato chips, & a cheese wedge… to fresh berries, seasonal salad, & bread… even organic lemonade, homemade chocolate chip cookies, & sea salt brownies.  this was a feast fit for a king!  [or 4 queens]

messy bun // {dressy} bun

IMG_7238

not many things make me feel like a princess [with the exception of my crown in my Indianapolis 500 Princess days!, #TBT].  however i have stumbled upon an accessory that allows me to kick it up to princess status on a regular basis.  when i saw the beautiful Becca Tilley effortlessly wearing a bun pin in her hair, i knew i had to have one.  stars, they’re just like us.  speaking of stars, i’m wearing the “beyond the stars” bun pin from my kitsch.  as you can see, it can also be a pony pin!  either way, it dresses up & is guaranteed to impress.

{boho} in bushwick

photo2

according to wikipedia [i know, i know – reliable source], boho-chic is a style of fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences.  that, i totally agree with.  but for me, “boho” is more than a style of fashion, it’s an attitude.  when i wear a boho-chic dress, like this flowy beauty from h&m, i suddenly feel different.  much more relaxed, much more easy going & free spirited, and much more cool.  i’m all about outfits that release & attract those good vibes.

elevated // {graffiti} diaries

don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love new york city.  but sometimes the city streets can be a scary place… filled with rats, old pizza, & cigarettes.  my recent shoe purchases provide a functional yet stylish solution: flatforms!  sandals or sneakers, i love the elevation & comfortability.  a little michael jackson sass goes a long way!

{neutrals} are always in season

if there’s one thing i’ve learned about style since living in new york, it’s that a black ensemble always works.  but now that summer is upon us, it’s all about bright whites.  in my opinion, neutrals are always in season.  and neutrals can always be paired together.  my favorite way to wear monochrome is in different textures.  i think a white sweater knit + a sequin woven jogger + a nude patent leather pump creates interest without distracting.  this can be done in a variety of ways, but neutrals feel effortless.  happy viewing, let me know what you think!

all that glitters // it’s all in the {details}

cutouts.  black & white.  gold.  what’s not to love?!  my thoughts exactly.  i picked up this crop top & skirt set without even a second thought.  it’s from my chic cousin Caroline [who I like to think of as my southern counterpart]’s online boutique.  i wore this for holiday festivities, as it worked well layering under tights as is pictured below.  but i look forward to also wearing it this spring.  i think the crop top would look so fresh n so clean clean with a pair of black jeans, white jeans, or even a flared skirt.  peep how i styled the outfit for cold weather weekends, as well as mix & match spring outfit inspo below!

stand out // with {city seat}

I recently discovered a fresh & functional new brand, City Seat.  I had to share this with you guys because they’re born & bred in Brooklyn, made in America, and can make our daily lives just a little bit easier.  My favorite part about it?  The personalization.  Right now, they’re the only personalized bike seat cover on the market.  To quote Ian from What A Girl Wants, “why fit in when you were born to stand out?”  Word, Ian.  Check it out below.
